What the museum says it offers
The City of Kawasaki's education board describes the museum as a cultural facility that conveys the world and messages of Fujiko F. Fujio through about 50,000 original drawings and related items. Its listed highlights include exhibition rooms centered on original drawings and a room called Sensei's Room, which displays the creator's favorite desk.
There is also a corner where visitors can read the manga, and a theater that shows short films that can be seen only here. An outdoor play area called Harappa, meaning an open field, is where visitors can meet the characters. The site also has a cafe with a menu themed on the works and a shop with limited-edition goods.
Hours, admission and getting there
The city lists opening hours of 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The museum is closed every Tuesday, except when Tuesday is a national holiday, and over the year-end and New Year period. Admission is by date-and-time reservation only, at about 1,000 yen for adults and university students, about 700 yen for junior high and high school students, and about 500 yen for children aged 4 and over. Check the museum's page before you go for current ticket sales.
A paid shuttle bus runs from Noborito Station, which is on the Odakyu Line and the JR Nambu Line. On foot, the museum is about 16 minutes from Mukogaoka-yuen Station on the Odakyu Line, or about 15 minutes from Shukugawara Station on the JR Nambu Line.
