Fujiko F. Fujio is from Takaoka, and the city put twelve bronze Doraemon characters in the plaza in front of the station, with words from the creator on a board at Doraemon's feet. In front of the station's ticket gates stands a postbox cast in Takaoka copperware: post a letter and it gets an original Doraemon postmark.

About the Doraemon Post
The city of Takaoka had the postbox made in December 2013 to mark the 80th anniversary of Fujiko F. Fujio's birth. It is cast in Takaoka copperware, a local traditional craft, and the city lists its location as in front of the ticket gates at Takaoka Station.
The commemorative postmark covers personal letters and postcards only, and New Year cards do not receive it. Mail posted here can take longer to arrive than ordinary mail, so the city asks senders to allow extra time. The current postmark design celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Takaoka Fujiko F. Fujio Furusato Gallery and is planned to run from Dec. 1, 2025 to Nov. 30, 2026.
Finding the statues
The statue plaza is named Doraemon Sanpomichi, meaning Doraemon's Walking Path, and sits in the Wing Wing Takaoka plaza in front of the station, at 1-7 Suehiro-cho. The tourism association lists it at roughly a 2-minute walk from Takaoka Station on the Ainokaze Toyama Railway.
