Fujiko F. Fujio grew up in Takaoka, and the city put twelve bronze Doraemon characters in the plaza in front of the station, with words from the creator on a board at Doraemon's feet. Inside the station concourse stands a two-metre postbox cast in Takaoka copperware: post a letter and it gets an original Doraemon postmark. Both are free, outdoors or in a public passage, about two minutes from the platforms.
