The first stop on the official Tamayura pilgrimage map. The station is where the series' visits to the town begin, and it is the start of the walk north into the preserved merchant quarter. It is on the JR Kure Line between Hiroshima and Mihara.

Scenes the tourism association ties to the station area
Takehara's tourism association says the station appears in the first episode, when the heroine Potte arrives from Yokosuka and is greeted by a welcome-home sign on the station building. The same page lists nearby spots in the first part of a walking route: the Aifuru-dori shopping street, which leads to the preserved townscape and is described as the characters' everyday route, and Isomiya Hachiman Shrine, shown in episode 12 as a New Year shrine visit. A tall smokestack of a nearby metal company is also visible from the station area, though the site is not open to visitors.
Walking time and getting to Takehara
The association describes the central area as walkable from the station and suggests about 3 to 4 hours for the main spots, or half a day with lunch or a cafe stop. Spots outside the center, such as Mount Kurotaki and Mount Asahi, are recommended by car. From Hiroshima Airport, a jumbo taxi or rental car takes roughly 25 minutes to Takehara Station.
By rail, the association lists a route from Tokyo that changes at Fukuyama or Okayama on the Shinkansen and then takes the JR Kure Line from Mihara Station, at roughly 5 to 6 hours in all. From Osaka or Kyoto, the association lists roughly 2.5 to 3.5 hours by Shinkansen and local trains.
