A hilltop wooden pavilion above Saihoji, reached by a long stone stairway from the preserved district and said to be modeled on Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto. The official Tamayura map names the temple steps as the setting used in the opening titles and the pavilion as the characters' gathering spot, with a view over the whole town. Visiting hours are given as roughly 8:00-18:00.

History of the temple and pavilion
The temple's current site once held a Zen temple, Myohoji, which burned down in 1602. Saihoji moved here the next year and became a Jodo-sect temple. The Takehara tourism site says a castle-like stone wall stands in front of the grounds, which also hold a main hall, bell tower, gate and other buildings.
The pavilion, Fumeikaku, dates to 1758 and houses a wooden standing statue of the eleven-headed Kannon, a prefectural important cultural property. The site says it can be seen from anywhere in town and is central to Takehara's landscape.
Getting there and the anime context
The temple is about 14 minutes on foot from JR Takehara Station, or about 3 minutes by car. From Michi-no-eki Takehara, a roadside rest area, it is about 5 minutes on foot. The rest area has free parking for 48 cars.
Tamayura began as a 2010 original video release, followed by a TV series in 2011 and a film in 2015. The tourism site ties the temple to the opening titles and episode 4, the nearby bell to episode 11, and the pavilion to episode 5 and other scenes.
