A shopping street of about 800 m, opened in 1993, that runs from Sakaiminato Station to the museum in the hometown of the creator of GeGeGe no Kitaro. It is lined with more than 170 bronze yokai statues, all lit from sunset to 10 p.m., when shadow-puppet yokai are also projected onto the pavement. Kappa Spring, a small plaza with a tower and nine yokai statues, is one of the resting spots along the way.

Yokai stamp rally and yokai post
The tourism association describes a stamp rally with 35 stamps along the road. Visitors buy a Yokai Guidebook for about 600 yen including tax at the Sakaiminato tourist information center or at shops, then collect stamps and finish at the information center. A yokai post at the center and inside the paid area of the Mizuki Shigeru Museum sends letters with Kitaro postmarks.
Night lighting and sights
Since the 2018 renewal, more than 50 kinds of yokai shadows are projected along the road each night after sunset, and the statues are lit. The display changes with seasons and events. The road also passes Yokai Shrine, which holds a black granite object the creator consecrated, and the museum at Honmachi 5 in Sakaiminato.
