The Kashima Rinkai Railway station for Oarai, about 15 minutes from Mito. The railway runs a Girls und Panzer wrapped train on the Oarai-Kashima Line. The town's tourist information center, Umimachi Terrace, stands next to the station and rents bicycles.

Station details and the wrapped train
Oarai Station is a staffed station at Sakuramichi in Oarai Town. The railway says Mito Station is about 15 minutes away and Kashima Jingu Station about 65 minutes.
The wrapped train carries a different design on each side, and the interior is wrapped too. The railway notes that train assignments can change, so the specific carriage may not run on a given day.
Nearby places and the tourist office
The railway's station page lists places nearby. Oarai Seaside Station is about 1.2 km away, roughly 15 minutes on foot. Mentai Park is about 1.7 km, roughly 21 minutes on foot. Aqua World Oarai aquarium is about 4.5 km, and Oarai Isosaki Shrine about 3 km. Both are reached on the town's loop bus, called Kaiyugo, in about 10 and 16 minutes. The page also lists the Oarai Seafood Market, about 1.8 km from the station, roughly 22 minutes on foot or about 17 minutes by Kaiyugo bus, and the Oarai Town Bakumatsu and Meiji Museum, about 2 km away, roughly 25 minutes on foot or about 6 minutes by bus.
The Oarai Tourism Association says the Umimachi Terrace office is open 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed December 29 to 31. Besides bicycle rental, it rents cars, runs tuk-tuk tours of the beach and sells selected souvenirs. The station parking lot is free for the first hour, then about 100 yen per hour. Its connecting-transport list names the Kaiyugo and Nacchan-go town buses, Ibaraki Kotsu buses toward Nakaminato Station and Oarai High School, and the Shosen Mitsui Ferry service between Oarai and Tomakomai. The station shop is also listed as selling advance tickets for the Aqua World Oarai aquarium at a one-tenth discount.
