Said to have first been built in 646, it is one of Japan's oldest bridges. It is on the official Sound! Euphonium location map and is a stamp point in the 2026 digital stamp rally (early course, September 1 to October 31). The bridge has no closing day.

Access, hours and nearby monuments

The Uji City tourist association lists the bridge as open at all times, with no closing days and no admission fee. It describes the bridge as one of the oldest in Japan, said to have been first built in 646 by a monk named Doto from Gangoji temple in Nara. A projecting section on the upstream side, called the Sannoma, is said to be where Toyotomi Hideyoshi had water drawn for tea, and the view from there is described as superb.

At the west end of the bridge, in a plaza completed in February 2004, stands a stone statue of Murasaki Shikibu with the bridge behind it. Questions can be directed to the Uji City Tourist Center.

The 2026 autumn collaboration and map

Keihan's special site says the autumn 2026 collaboration began on September 1. A location map of Uji spots that have appeared in the series is handed out from September 1, while supplies last, at major Keihan stations, the Uji City Tourist Center, the tourist information office in front of Keihan Uji Station and the Yumeria Uji hall in front of JR Uji Station. The map was produced with the cooperation of Uji City.

The digital stamp rally runs in two parts. The early course, September 1 to October 31, covers three spots including Uji Bridge, and the later course, November 1 to December 20, covers three others. Completing a course earns a character photo frame. The site also asks visitors to keep voices down, especially at night, out of consideration for nearby residents.
