Takayama Jinya closes earlier in winter. Local trains between Takayama and Furukawa are infrequent, so plan the return first.

Hida City in Gifu promotes the old town of Furukawa as a model for scenes in Your Name., and publishes its own walking course: the station, a hillside shrine, canal-side storehouses and the city library. Furukawa is 15 minutes by train from Takayama, a town whose old townscape keeps the look of the Edo period. With an early train from Nagoya you can see Furukawa in one day; a night in Takayama adds its morning markets and old streets.

Hida-Furukawa Station and the footbridge
The footbridge north of the station gives the famous view of the platform. Hida City notes that a train stops at platform 2, as in the film, for just one minute a day, from 9:57. Pick up a walking map at the tourist information office by the station.
Walk back down to the canal lined with white-walled storehouses. Hida City's course puts it about 25 min on foot from the shrine.

About 5 min from the station. The library appears as a model location for the film. It is a working library used by students and residents: keep quiet, and ask the staff before taking any photos inside; they hand out a photo permit.
