Best time to go
Any time of year: almost everything is indoors. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable for the seaside walk at the end.
Closing days
Canal City Hakata is open year-round. Nintendo FUKUOKA follows AMU PLAZA Hakata's calendar, and animate Fukuoka moves from Fukuoka PARCO to LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin on October 24, 2026.

Moderate: roughly 6–8 km, much of it indoors, plus about 1.6 km along Sazae-san Street if you walk the whole road.
Pokémon and Nintendo are inside the Hakata Station complex, Gundam and Jump and Ghibli are all in Canal City, One Piece is in Tenjin, and Fukuoka City itself named a road on the west side after the creator of Sazae-san. One ¥640 pass covers the lot. It bolts straight onto our 3-day Kyushu route, which also starts and ends at Fukuoka Airport.

Early morning
Fukuoka Airport → Hakata Station
The Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line runs from under the domestic terminal to Hakata and on to Tenjin. From the international terminal, take the free shuttle bus to the domestic terminal first. Buy the Fukuoka City Subway 1-Day Pass at any ticket machine: about ¥640 for adults and ¥320 for children, valid only on the day you buy it.

Morning
Pokémon Center Fukuoka
On the 2nd floor of Hakata Marui, inside the station complex, open roughly 10:00–21:00 every day. Nintendo FUKUOKA, on the 8th floor of AMU PLAZA Hakata across the concourse, opened in November 2025 and runs roughly 10:00–20:00 on the mall's calendar; it is a game store rather than an anime one, but it is thirty seconds away.
About 10 min on foot from Hakata Station, or a short bus ride. Four official shops sit in one complex: THE GUNDAM BASE FUKUOKA on the 1st floor of the South Building, with a build room; and the Jump Shop, Donguri Kyowakoku (Studio Ghibli goods) and the Bandai Namco Cross Store on B1. All open roughly 10:00–21:00, and the complex itself is open year-round.
About 2 min from the Canal City Hakata-mae bus stop; the main hall is open roughly 4:00–22:00 and the goshuin (shrine stamp) desk 9:00–17:00. A decorated Hakata Gion Yamakasa float about 13 m tall stands in the precinct all year except June. The festival's own organisers say the rear panel of a float is often based on a TV anime, but the 2026 float at Kushida shows the Battle of Sekigahara, so check the theme before you make a special trip. Lunch in the Kawabata arcade next door.

Afternoon
Nakasu-Kawabata → Tenjin
In Tenjin, Mugiwara Store Fukuoka is on the 7th floor of Fukuoka PARCO: the official ONE PIECE chain store, open on the department store's hours of roughly 10:00–20:30, directly connected to Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station and to subway exit 7.
Animate's Fukuoka store is moving. Until October 23, 2026 it is on the 8th floor of Fukuoka PARCO, in the same building as the Mugiwara Store. From October 24, 2026 it is on the 8th floor of LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin, directly connected to Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, open roughly 10:00–20:00, and an event-focused annex opens on PARCO's 8th floor from November 2, 2026.

Late afternoon
Sazae-san Street and Seaside Momochi
Take the subway west to Nishijin. Fukuoka City named this road of about 1.6 km Sazae-san Street in 2012; it runs from the Wakiyamaguchi intersection to the entrance of Seaside Momochi Seaside Park. The city's page lists a memorial monument at Isono Hiroba mid-street, statues of Machiko Hasegawa and Sazae-san, and a ceramic plaque at Nishijin Station.
Nishijin is on the same Airport Line, so the ride back is direct with no change. We could not find an official journey time for this leg, so check the timetable and add the usual margin before an international flight.
Unlimited travel on all three Fukuoka City Subway lines for the day you buy it, sold at every ticket machine. It covers the airport, Hakata, Nakasu-Kawabata, Tenjin and Nishijin, which is the whole of this route, and it comes with small discounts at participating businesses. The subway publishes fares by distance band rather than station to station, so use the official fare search if you want to compare single tickets.
Simpler if you only make two or three rides, and it also works on the Nishitetsu trains and buses and in convenience stores. Tap in and out at the gates.

Nishitetsu's round-trip ticket from Fukuoka (Tenjin) to Dazaifu, with a voucher for an umegae-mochi rice cake and local discount coupons. Valid for one month from purchase and two days from first use. The digital version is sold through the my route app; the paper version at Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station.

Visiting with respect
Kushida Shrine is an active place of worship with a working festival behind it. Bow at the gate, keep clear of anyone praying and don't touch the float.
Hakata Station and Tenjin are busy commuter hubs. Leave big luggage in a station locker rather than dragging it through the shops.
Sazae-san Street is an ordinary city road with homes and offices along it. Stay on the pavement, and don't photograph houses or residents.

FAQ
Can I add this to the 3-day Kyushu route?
Yes, and it is designed for it. Both start and end at Fukuoka Airport, so this day slots in before you head for Hita or after you come back from Aso, without changing hotels twice.
Where is the Kitakyushu Manga Museum?
On the 5th and 6th floors of Aruaru City beside JR Kokura Station, about 15 min from Hakata by Shinkansen, so it is a half-day of its own rather than part of this loop. The permanent gallery is about ¥480 for adults, open 11:00–19:00 with last entry 30 min before, closed on Tuesdays and over New Year. Its Panda! Go, Panda! exhibition, made with TMS Entertainment, runs to October 18, 2026. animate Kokura is on the 3rd floor of the same building.
Is Homangu Kamado Shrine really a Demon Slayer spot?
Fans say so, and the shrine is worth seeing on its own terms, but neither the shrine, Dazaifu City nor the rights holder publishes the connection. From Dazaifu Station the community bus Mahoroba-go takes about 10 min to the shrine (about ¥100). The shrine office is open 9:00–17:00.
Is there an official One Piece attraction in Fukuoka?
The Mugiwara Store in Tenjin is the official One Piece shop in Fukuoka.
Where is the Pokémon Center in Fukuoka?
The Pokémon Company's own site gives Hakata Marui, 2nd floor, at Hakata Station.
