Otaru is one of the story's main settings, and the publisher's own Golden Kamuy site ran a page for this city museum's 2016 exhibition on the Otaru inside the manga. That exhibition is long over, but the Canal Hall's rooms on the herring fishery and the port are the history the story draws on. It occupies an 1893 warehouse by the canal, about 10 min on foot from JR Otaru Station, and costs about ¥300 for adults.
